Our DAD (William [Bill] Downing Craft, Jr.) was born in New Jersey and grew up on Long Island, NY in the still small community of Northport, NY moving to Kerrville after WWII.

After moving to Kerrville he worked for my grandfater Harvey Mosty until he went to work for the Kerrville Post Office in 1952. I'm sure he still worked around the farm after going to work for the Post Office since we lived on the same 80 acres on Bandera Highway.

The older folks around Kerrville will remember my dad as the friendly postman, who delivered mail to just about every address in Kerrville at one time or another, from 1951 until he retired from the Post Office in 1980. His close friends from the Post Office remember him as "Cheesy".

Dad died at his home on Bandera Highway in 2004.

Our MOM (Marie Annaletta Mosty) was a native of Kerrville having lived 99% of her life on the Harvey Mosty farm about a mile south of the Kerrville-Schreiner Park (Where Cypress Landing is located now). She graduated from Tivy High School, married my dad, and raised us four kids (Thomas Downing, Frances Annaletta, Daniel Richard and me, James Bruce - also graduates of Tivy) on that same farm.

Most of the older folks (Those still alive!) will remember her as the caring, dedicated florist at Mosty's Nursery & Flower Shop which stood where MG Supply is now (I lived behind that shop for a short time after being married!).

Mom died at her home on Bandera Highway in 1992.

Tommy was born in May of 1946 and is the oldest of the four children. He attended school at Tivy and graduated from Tivy High School.

After graduation he joined the Navy and served one tour in Da Nang, Vietnam as a Seabee. Before departing, he and Joan Morriss were married.

After returning from his service in the Navy he went to work for Mosty's Garage and retired from work there in 2018.

They had two children, Jeanne and Michelle.

He and Joan reside at the same home they have owned for over 40 years.

Fran was born in January of 1949 and is the second oldest of the four children. She also attended school at Tivy and graduated from Tivy High School.

Fran married Thomas Frakich after her graduation and they lived in Corpus Christi as Thomas finished his stint in the Navy. They moved to Ingleside, Texas (east of Corpus) and lived there for several years. During that time their daughter, Deedee was born.

Fran went to work for Wal Mart later on and was responsible for store set-ups.

She and Thomas divorced in the 1990s. Fran eventually made residence in Big Cabin, Oklahoma (about an hour Northeast of Tulsa) and resides there now with her daughter Deedee, her husband Bob and son TJ.

Danny was born in December 1949. Graduated from Tivy High School and continueing the family tradition, joined the Navy.

After his discharge from the Navy Danny returned home making residence in Kerrville. He married Jeanne Mahan and had a son, Robert. After Jeanne's untimely death Danny married Rebecca McBride and they had a daughter, Jessica. Danny and Rebecca divorced and Danny then married Judy Ligon.

For the most part Danny and his families resided in Kerrville; finally ending up in Winnsboro, Texas (about an hour east of Dallas). He and Judy resided there. Judy died in 2019. Danny remained in Winnsboro where he died in September 2021.

Bruce, the youngest of the four children, was born in January 1951. He graduated from Tivy High School like his other siblings.

After graduation Bruce went to work for the H.M. Gousha Company in 1969 and continued there until 1996 when the company was bought and closed by Rand McNally. He then started his own maplping/graphic design/ Macintosh system consulting business immediately after Gousha closed.

Bruce married Gwen Schwausch in 1970. They had two children, Josh and Sara.

After Bruce's dad, Bill (or Pipaw as we called him), died in 2004 he and Gwen moved into Bill's house on Bandera Highway. Gwen died in 2008. Bruce continues to reside at the Bandera property where he grew up.

What a motley crew!!

This photo would have been taken in the mid 1950s at our home on Bandera Highway. Just about where the Burr Oak tree is now. In the background you can see the "garage" with our 1953 Ford station wagon parked in it.. Behind us (just to the right of the garage) is the large oak tree that had to be cut down about 1993. That tree's canopy was about 80 feet in diameter.

The driveway from the "garage" would have been under the east edge of the present house.

The old "garage" is the center part of the current garage. If I remember correctly, dad used the steakbed truck from Mosty's Nursery & Flower Shop to set it on and drive it over to it's present location.

To the right of Danny's head you can see the light color that would have been the old Hwy 683 (now 173) road that ran along the river bank.
