Before we began painting the inside Robert Dale discovered what looked like rivers running along the surface of some of the sheetrock in the east part of the house.

TERMITE REPAIR

Three rooms were affected by termite damage. The Ocean, Daffodil and Lavender rooms.

I found day squirting the trim in the old bathroom one day with bug spray. When I asked what he was trying to kill he said "termites". On the way home I immediately called Doug Johnson who works for Terminix and told him what was going on. He said he would be out the next day to inspect.

After Doug inspected the bathroom he did in fact find termites. And so, I had him put Sentricon termite traps around the house, which have been in place, and checked, ever since 2005.

The Ocean room was the hardest hit by termites. As you can see I had Robert remove all the sheetrock on the north wall, and the lower half of the east wall, and replace several studs that were eaten out by the termites before putting up new sheetrock.

We did the same for the Daffocil and Lavender rooms although only the bottom half of sheetrock need replacing, and no studs.

One aside to this repair. It wasn't until Robert was about halfway through floating and taping sheetrock in the Ocean room I noticed he was not dampening the tape before putting it on the wall. I asked him why and he said, "I didn't know you had to do that." Needless to say, he dampened his tape before application; but not before he had already done some crack repair in the main part of the house. You can see where he didn't dampen the tape as it is peeling away from the sheetrock!
